Mykhailo Fedyshak

Mykhailo was born in the city of Sheptytskyi, Ukraine. In 2007, he moved to Lviv to pursue higher education. Design—understood in a broader sense as the practice of making things better and more beautiful—has always interested him and motivated various creative endeavors. Partly for this reason, he chose journalism as his field of study and later earned a Master’s degree in Journalism from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Although he does not work directly in this profession, he is confident that his education helped him develop the ability to read and interpret information more deeply—an ability that has proven extremely valuable in his design work.

After graduating from university, Mykhailo joined D2P, an American outsourcing company specializing in the layout of periodical publications, particularly newspapers and magazines, where he worked as a layout designer. He spent seven years in this role. At the same time, he worked on a wide range of independent design projects, from reports and brochures to logos and infographics.

He joined Darien Group in the summer of 2019, initially as a designer and later as a senior designer. For nearly two years, he led a separate design team as a Design Director. He considers presentation design and the layout of multi-page documents—especially reports—to be among the most interesting types of projects. He emphasizes that this diversity of tasks prevents work from becoming routine: one day you move anchor points, the next you kern letters; one day you place hundreds of markers on a map, the next you select a single color from swatch fans and color books containing hundreds of thousands of samples.

Outside of his main work, he collaborates with leading Ukrainian publishing houses, designing book layouts and covers. His portfolio includes more than a hundred designed books. He enjoys thoughtful cinema, moving through dense rows of printed letters, and immersing himself in evocative music. He is eagerly awaiting GTA VI and The Last of Us Part III. Together with his wife, he is raising their son.
